Seneca beats Woodrow Wilson, 14 to 0 (Meise and Worthman get TDs)

Posted Saturday, October 06, 2007 by Doug Melegari

The Seneca Golden Eagles entered Camden, Saturday Afternoon, to play Woodrow Wilson, one of two high schools in Camden. When it was all over, the Seneca Golden Eagles won 14 to 0. They have improved their record to 3-1.

Tim Meise scored the first touchdown during the first quarter of the game. A good kick was then kicked by Tom Schiraldi. In the second quarter, Dustin Worthman had a touchdown and yet again the touchdown was followed by another good kick from Tom Schiraldi. Trent Waddle also intercepted the football during the game, once.

The Golden Eagles did face a few challenges during the game. The temperatures were well above normal for this time of the year and the Golden Eagles had to remain hydrated to keep themselves from becoming overheated. In addition, Sean Carroll got hurt during the first half of the game and was out the remainder of the game. Sean Berri, number 23, filled in for Sean Caroll. Berri, a sophomore, did a fantastic job as a substitute for Caroll. Limpert, another sophomore, who continues to fill in for the injured quarterback Tom Massucci, threw a great touchdown pass. Tim Meise also suffered an injury.

With Camden being a dangerous city, not all of the usual fans were present, but the fans stayed in constant contact through use of cell phones with the people that were present. However, there was still a decent turnout in the away stands. The stands were also crowded with the Seneca marching band which came out to support the Golden Eagles. For the cheerleaders, they kept themselves busy with their usual work on the hot and mostly sunny afternoon. Lauren Maira took the time out to show me some Golden Eagles spirit.

For Seneca, they ended the game as they always do, with a talk and the huddle. Ryan Hendrickson and Tom Massucci, out the rest of the season with injuries, so wishful that they could play another game again this season, stood by and listened attentively.

The Seneca Golden Eagles will be play the other high school located in Camden, Camden High School, in a home game this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
