Seneca does not win the Shawnee Game, Game went into OT

Posted Thursday, September 20, 2007 by Doug Melegari
Even the best football teams, in the NFL, that eventually go on to win the Super bowl, can sometimes suffer one or two setbacks. For Seneca, Thursday's setback with a loss to Shawnee does not by any means make it impossible for the Golden Eagles to make it in the playoffs or to another State Championship game.

The Seneca Golden Eagles poured their heart and soul into this game, but so did the Shawnee Renegades. Two very competitive football teams were on the field Thursday. This was proven by the fact in all four, regular quarters both teams scored nothing. This forced the game to go into overtime. Unfortunately, Seneca's defeat came in overtime when Shawnee scored a touchdown. The loss caused some of the players and fans to become briefly overwhelmed by emotions. However, the players and the fans know that losing a battle does not mean you lost a war, especially when you have a strong family, like the Seneca family.

Meanwhile, Shawnee High School's football stadium area was packed with fans as Seneca and Shawnee are district rivals. Some Seneca fans painted their bodies green and gold, the school colors. Others even wrote big Green and Gold letters on them. Then there were those that just brought their school spirit to the Renegade territory.

Seneca will play another game on Friday as they go head to head with Northern Burlington.
